Raymond was the 6th child of Clarence Edward Blood and Laura C. Dandurand. He was born September 28, 1894 in Chester, MA. Raymond appears in the 1900 census for Chester, MA. as a 5 year old living with his parents. The 1910 census shows him living in West Springfield, Ma., he is 16 years old and is working as a clerk. He served in WWI in Co. E, 14th Engineers. After some research we find that this company was responsible for building railroads in France. In 1920, Raymond is living in Westfield, MA. He is now 25 and living at the home of John J. Mahoney. He was engaged to be married to Helen Halla. Her family lived near the train depot in Westfield, where Raymond worked. The story goes he went to Helen's house on his coffee break one day. He was killed that same day after he returned to work. His obituary states that he was working on part of the train and may have forgotten to set the brake. He was run over by the train and killed instantly. Helen never married and was also killed by a train in Avon, Connecticut when her car was hit by a train. Raymond and Helen are buried side by side in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield, MA.
