Note: He was a civil war veteran. He fought with Captain Turpin's 28th Alabama volunteers, an infantry unit. He was captured into his second tour of duty and spent 11 months in prison in Chicago. He had signed up in Alabama at 19 years of age. Presumably from Weogufka where I believe he had relatives. How he came to be in Texas where he died is, I'm sure, an interesting story.
