  "The Town Book of the Manor of Philispburgh" as published in New York Genealogical and Biographical Society Record, 39:3 p.207 [July 1928] notes that there was a [cattle] earmark registered to "Hesyeciye Simmens" on 1747 Dec. 3.
  In the same Phillipsburg records are noted: "1753 the first thursday in April is chosen for Philipsburg the sevel offeceres for the year insuing. for town clerk Jacob Dykman, for Constable and Colector hasakiah Seman for debity James Legget..."
