a. Note:   Discharge, issued 29 November 1945 to John Moos, Armyserial number 32428044, Corporal, Army US, with the RCN CO 66th AR. Place of entry into the US Army: Fort Jay, New York. Place ofseparation: Fort Dix, New Jersey. Military awards: Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal,European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, World War II VictoryMedal. Battles and Campaigns: Luzon, New Guinea, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno. These discharge papers are recorded by the County Clerk, New YorkCounty, August 10, 1970. As I recall 'Pop' discussing his wartime experiences; a couple ofthings come to mind. During his duty with a half-track outfit in thejungles of New Guinea, he got up one morning, anduncharacteristically, he took his boot, and shook it out beforeputting it on. Out fell a scorpion! He was not involved in any of the fighting in Germany because of hisGerman background. And I'm of the feeling that this was more forpersonal anxiety to the individual (by the military's view-point);then loyalty.
