Note: Pacific theater of operations (World War II). He thought Johnnielooked quite ill at that time. I remember a time (cold, snowy wintery day) when Johnnie was at homeand we were to go in to town. I sat behind the steering wheel of hiscar; and he poured boiling water in the radiator; then hit the handcrank; all the while admonishing me to 'jiggle' this or that as soonas the car started! Then we drove off. I can remember the road bedhad a very high crown where the car was parked, listing mightily butstaying upright!
