Notes
a. Note:   The following are the notes of Esther Cochran Matthews: "Drucilla Beck was the daughter of James Beck and Polly Depew who were married in May 1822. James was a government scout in Indian times, as was their only son, Hiram. Polly died between 1860-1867. They often had to take refuge in stockades to keep from being scalped by Indians. Beck's creek in Shelby Co., Illonis is named in their honor. They were Irish and decendants of an Irish Queen who was beheaded by her enemies. Drucilla and William had all their children on a farm about 4 miles NW of Herrick, Illinois in a hewed log house. Drucilla is buried in Williams Cemetery 3 1/2 miles from Winona, Missouri."
According to the 1870 Census of Cold Springs Twp., Shelby Co., Illinois, Drucilla had personal property valued at $320.
The following are notes of Mary Fouts: "Drucilla went to Shannon Co Mo with son Madison and widowed daughter, Rebecca, and her son. She brought her family Bible with her. That bible and Nancy's bible resided in the care of Madisons son Bill. The information is now on record in the Winona library in Shannon Co."
