Note: James P. Bowers Jr. is listed as the Head of Household for the 1900 Census. He is listed in this Census as residing in Gonzales County, Texas. For the 1900 Census, information is found in Volume 47, Enumeration District (ED) 60, Sheet 22, line 25. For this Census, James' DOB is listed as June 1865, and born in Georgia. He is listed here as married to Minnie (White) Bowers. Only two children are listed here: Eller Bowers and Ottie Bowers. For the 1900 Census, James and Minnie are listed as married for 11 years. Minnie was 28 at the time. This Census notes that they were the parents of three children with only two living. His occupation was listed as farmer, and he rented a farm. This Census lists James and Minnie as having had 3 children to date with only two remaining living. James was listed as 16 years old for the 1880 Census. This was found on the Census page for his father, James, Sr. in Vol 2, ED 10, Sheet 7, line 19 for Bastrop County. This Census lists him as living with his parents and 4 siblings: Julia A. Bowers, Robert L. Bowers, Charles J. Bowers, and Stonewall Bowers. Need to check the 1910 Census for other children and DOB(Claude & Clifton). Per Wilbur (Joe) Bowers, Olan born in 1910. Per Uncle Lee (Otie, Jr.) James, Jr. owned two farms, one in Harwood and one in Cistern, Texas. According to Wilbur (Joe) Bowers, there was always some "bad blood" between James, Jr. and the other brothers related to J.P. Sr.'s land holding when he died. Apparently they did not share or they told him that he didn't need to bother coming to the area.
