ENGINEER DANIEL HERRON FOUND DEAD ON ENGINE Supposed To Have Been Struck By Bridge Post Was Raised Here. Funeral Will Occur Here Tomorrow Morning Mr. Daniel Herron, son of Mr. Thomas Herron, of this city, and a popular engineer on the Louisville and Nashville railroad, running out of Birmingham, was killed at Hartselle Saturday night.
The remains were carried to Birmingham where they were prepared for burial. They will be brought to Anniston for interment and will reach here at 6:30 o'clock this evening. The funeral for which arrangements have not been completed will occur tomorrow morning.
How Mr. Herron met his death is not known, being found lying in the window of his cab from a blow on his head.
It is supposed that he was killed by a post on a bridge. It is thought that he was leaning out of the cab window looking forward, and his head struck a pillar of the bridge.
He was very popular among a large circle of friends and his untimely death is greatly deplored. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.
Mr. Herron was born in Renova, Pa., in 1876, and moved with his parents to this city in 1880. He attended the public schools. Several years since he entered the employment of the Southern railroad and was rapidly promoted to the place of Engineer on the road. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He was married to Miss Annie McKeever of Avondale, in 1898 and is survived by her and their children. Besides these he left to mourn his death, a father, Mr. Thomas Hwerron, a brother, Mr. Charles Herron, and several sisters, among whom are Mrs. Russ W. Rose, of this city, and Mrs. E.
