Note: Jessie moved with her parents to Wakefield, NE from Bentonsport, IA in 1883 by covered wagon and lived there for 4 years. Her parents then bought a farm near Allen, NE. Her father was a carpenter by trade. She attended Springbank school until she finished the eighth grade. She graduated from Allen High School, and enrolled at Wayne State Teachers College to prepare for teaching. After teaching three years, she married her school days sweetheart, Roy Heliker, at the farm home of her parents. They went to housekeeping at once on a farm her husband had recently bought near his father's homestead. They left the farm in 1926 and moved to Allen. She was a 60 year member of the Allen United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was the township librarian for 11 years and gave piano lessons in her home until she was 75. She and Roy moved to Sunrise Manor in Sioux City in 1964 due to ill health of Roy. He passed away there and she moved to the Crowell Home in Blair NE for 6 years. She then moved back to Sunrise Manor where she lived until she passed away in 1984.
