a. Note:   John Landes came to this country 11/5/1764 by way of Ship Jeneffer - Captain Geo. Reis, out of Rotterdam, Germany, and Coves, England to America.
 He was born either in Eastern Germany or Switzerland.
 He had a son, John Landes (b. 5/14/1818; d. 9/27/1887), who married a young woman named Elizabeth Fair (b. 2/16/1818; d. 9/2/1897), born in
 Baltimore County, MD. She was the sixth child of John Fair (b. 12/9/1774;
 d. 10/9/1861) and Mary Lind (b. 10/6/1781; d. 3/22/1866). There were a total
 of 13 children in this family.
 The second child of John Landes and Elizabeth Fair was Amandelia Landes (b. 4/18/1842; d. 12/8/1903). She married George Washington Hoffacker
 (b. 1/3/1840; d. 12/19/1909).
