Garrison..... settled on a farm on Flat Creek four or five miles above its confluence with the French Broad River near a place now known as Alexander and about twelve miles from Asheville -- to the north west of that city. He was a very prosperous farmer and was the only one of his father's family that was the owner of slaves. He lived and died on this farm.
