Continued: Roy William Lanphier was a co-porprietor in the firm of Gildea &Lanphier, merchants of Leadville, and was also engaged in mining atthe time of his marriage. Because of the high regard in which he washeld at Leadville and by the Management of the Wes Chem Mfg Co, it wasarranged that he assemble a certain group of mining properties for thelatter, and operate them. After agreeing as to detail, he left forleadville on a certain Saturday, but, suffering from intense abdominalpains, left there Tuesday evening and arrived at Denver Wednesdaymorning. An appendectomy verified a diagnosis that the appendix hadburst, and he did not recover. Because of the loss of his servicesfor the project, it was dropped.
