Found on National Archives m/film# C-9964, j-3 Oro Div'n 3, page 55 line 7. Location: Concession 10, Lot 16, owned by occupant. HALL, John Grantham, 50, b: England, C-of-E, English, Farmer + Sarah Gray, 43, b: Ireland, C-of-E, Irish. Children: William Alexander, 16, b: Ont., C-of-E, English, Farmer, Mary Amelia, 14, b: Ont. They had 88 acres in two lots, on which were situated two houses and two barns/sheds. Vehicles included one carriage or sleigh, one car/wagon/sled. Agricultural equipment included one plough/cultivator and one fanning mill. The land included 65 improved acres, of which there was 4 acres pasture, a quarter-acre orchard or garden, eight acres of wheat, one-and-a-half acres of potatoes, and five acres for hay crop. From this land, they reaped: 40 bushels of spring wheat, 200 bu. oats, 105 bu. peas, four bu. corn, 200 bu. potatoes, 100 bu. turnips, 2 bu. apples, three tons of hay. Livestock included: two horses over three years old, one colt or filly, three milch cows and one other horned bovine, 11 sheep, eight swine. Produce included: one beef, two sheep and six swine killed or sold for slaughter, 156 lbs butter, 4 lbs wool, 37 yards homemade cloth or flannel, one mink fur, and 13 cords of firewood.

Note: (Research):LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT This is the last Will and Testament of me John Grantham Hall of the Township of Oro in the County of Simcoe, Yeoman. First. - Subject to the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I give and bequeath all my personal property of whatsoever kind and wheresoever situate unto my wife her heirs executors and administrators. Second. I devise all my real estate of whatsoever description and wheresoever situate unto my said wife to hold during the term of her natural life or during her widowhood. Third. In the event of my said wife marrying I direct that my said real estate shall be sold by my executors hereinafter named and the proceeds of such sale to be divided equally share and share alike between my said wife and children who shall at such time be living and in case any of my children shall have died either during my life time or during the widowhood of my said wife having first married and borne children in lawful wedlock then in the event of a sale of my real estate as above contemplated the children of my said children so dying shall take the share its parent would have taken share and share alike between themselves. Fourth. And in the case my said wife shall not marry then at her death I direct that my said real estate shall be sold by my said executors and the proceeds of such sale shall be divided up equally share and share alike amongst my children who shall be alive at the time of her death and in case any of my children shall die during the life time of my said wife having first married and begotten children in lawful wedlock then I direct that the children of my said child so dying shall share and share alike the portion that would have fallen to its parent so dying. And I hereby appoint my said wife executrix and Lewis Crooks of the said Township of Oro, Yeoman, executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of April one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven.
