a. Note:   He is living in his parents' household in 1880. According to his marriage license, he says he was born in 1879. All family members remember his birth on September 24, 1878. Another source has said that he was born in 1879, Shirley Stoops, who did genealogy on all of Isaac's brothers. One source that copied the filmed copies of the official records states that the date of birth was May 24, 1878. This is probably a misprint in that some 5's look like 8's in the official records. He, along with his mother and father, moved from Sand Run, West Virginia to Eden, West Virginia when Willis was 14 years of age.
