Notes
a. Note:   At any early age, Henry took on the occupation of his father, listed as tanner at the age of 19 in the 1880 Federal Census. It was that year that he married Mary Thien of Kenosha at St. George's Church in Kenosha. From the census records, it appears that he and Mary were neighbors.
He was highly regarded as a stationary engineer, started on a tug for the O.B. Greene Dredging Company of Chicago. He later became the first chief engineer at the Kenosha Water Department.
Henry was a member of the Kenosha Volunteer Fire Department. He was the engineer on the first fire engine in Kenosha, the I.W. Webster. He was chief engineer on the Gilbert M. Simmons Fire fire company, which was the first volunteer fire department to arrive at the great Milwaukee (3rd Ward) Fire of 1892.
From 1899 through 1912, he is listed as an engineer at various locations around Kenosha, while living at 615 Bond Street - water works, pumping station, Simmons Manufacturing Co. and the Kenosha Hosiery Co.
By 1912, he had moved "out to the country" at RFD 36, Somers, WI (Kenosha County). By 1919 he had moved up to Milwaukee, working as a machinist and living at 1065 N. 5th Street, then later 900 Holton, both in Milwaukee.
By 1922 he had moved out to Pewaukee, WI.
Henry is buried at St. James Cemetary, Kenosha.
