Notes
a. Note:   8 REFN642 [Wagner.FTW] Alexander Hamilton McConnell and his wife Rebecca Ellen Brougher McConnell came to Kansas from Bremen, Indiana in 1883. They originally settled on a farm seven miles northwest of Cherryvale; but bought and moved to the farm east of Cherryvale between Christmas and New Year's in 1890. The farm was in the McConnell family continually from then on until the government bought it in 1973, for the reservoir. The big barn that set southwest of the house was built in 1904 with hewed out timber. This was the cow and horse barn. Alex was a carpenter as well as a farmer and it was his idea to construct the round barn. He and a carpenter named Glassmier bult the round in 1910. The house just sort of grew. The original structure was two bunk houses butted togerther and Alex added rooms and porches as they were needed and or as they could afford too. When Glen married in 1919, Alex, Ella, and youngest , Harriett, moved into Cherryvale. The registered Holstein cow herd was begun in 1917. It was continually upgraded, improved and increased until the entire herd was sold intact in 1944.[McConn.FTW] Alexander Hamilton McConnell and his wife Rebecca Ellen Brougher McConnell came to Kansas from Bremen, Indiana in 1883.
