Notes
a. Note:   ada, emigrated from County Wicklow, Ireland, circa 1850 with a family of five children (all sons) The Family settled on a 50 acre parcel of land Lot # 10 Concession #5 of Nissouri Township, District of Dorchester. This information was was recorded on Township census records of 1852 and 1861. In 1852 census indicates there were 2 other persons residing at that home. Rebecca Behora Mahon (1834)William Mahon (1834) it is expected that these two were cousins of the family,(They are listed as Twins on the 1851 census) and Francis McMartin (1837) who later in the 1861 census, is listed as Francis Mahon wife of William Mahon( 1836 )No further record was located beyond 1861. It is not known where James and Margaret are buried, (it is expected that Margaret would likely be at his side.)However, a gravesite at Clipperton Cemetery, Nissouri Township has been located, the headstone is located beside George Mahon (1833) one of his sons. The name appears misspelled "James Mahan"and indicates his death as Oct 18, 1871.( 76th year) which co-incides with the 1796 birthdate of James Mahon. The Headstone is extremely difficult to read and there appears to be no mention of Margaret. Follow-up investigation leads me to believe that this is in fact the James Mahon in question. I have determined that the James Mahon in this particular grave is in fact James Mahon not "Mahan" as indicated on the Headstone. I have confirmed this with a search at the London Middlesex Branch of the OGS. Furhter data is being researched. July/2000
