Note: Kenneth's father, Dr. Leonard Atkinson, delivered the baby at home on December 1, 1901. When ask why, he responded, "I don't know anyone in this neck of the woods I would trust to take care of my wife and child."
Kenneth liked to voyage. In 1922, Ken and brother Roger worked their way to China on a steam ship. On the way, one of the hands fell overboard. Though sad, it meant a promotion for Ken from "wiper" to oiler(?). In 1936, after selling out of the auto business with Roger, Ken went on his World Cruise. He was in Germany and France during the Olympics but left Germany quickly for some reason(not clear) related to Hitler. On to Italy, Egypt and points East. Returned to California through Hong Kong and Hawaii.
KK, to his friends in Martinez, had been a Dodge Dealer in Walnut Creek before WWII -- the war stopped that. He started a bus line, and also was the Railway Express and Greyhound agent in Martinez. He sold the bus line in 1945 and opened a used car lot on Ward Street, Later he sold Insurance, then Real Estate, but never gave up the car dealer's licence.
