a. Note:   ved to Bath Twp., Steuben Co., New York about 1817 at age 23. he married Amanda Haines, in Bath, the daughter of Col. Rufus and Marium Haines of South Carolina.(It is reported that her obituary mentioned that she was from a well known South Carolina family).
  According to personal records of grandson William Adoniram Palmer, the family residedin Hornellsville, Steuben Co. & most of the children were recorded as being born there. It is believed that in 1838, William and family traveled in a "prairie schooner" to Iowa, where he settled in Princeton Twp in Scott County along the Mississippi River. He continued to reside the rest of his life in Scott Co.for the rest of his life as a farmer. He & wife, Amanda were among the original organizers of the Bath Baptis Church in LaClair Twp. Scott Co. He is listed in the 1847 IOwa State Census as living in Scott Co. with a total of 9 persons in his household. He was 53 years old at death and is buried in the Nowlin Cemetery.
