Note: Castle Pennsylvania. He was married to Charity Dennison. Adam and Charity had 8 children, including 2 sons, Adam and John/ It is not known which of these sons was the father of our Ancestor, Adam Hayes as we find 2 Adam Hayes in the record books at that time. Adam Hayes had died before March 1, 1789, and Charity died at the age of 67. Both are buried in Frankfort Township, Cumberland County PennsylvaniaAdam was married to Sisson Stephens on October 6, 1803, in Columbiana, Ohio. He died October 5, 1845. Adam and Sisson had one known child, a son, William Thompson, who was born January 21,1831 in New Brighton, Pennsylvania. He was married to Elizabeth Partington in 1850. She was born June 4,1833. William and Eilzabeth had one son, James Partington, who was born July 25, 1851, In Beaver Falls Pennsylvania. It is believed that Elizabeth died in the next year or two as William was married to Olivia Armstrong on December 15, 1853, in Gallia County, Ohio. While living in Gallia County Ohil, William worked as a blacksmith. He lived in a town called Cadmus. Cadmus was first settled in 1812 on some land near Symmers Creek The town was established by a man called John Coddington who ran a mill on Symmes Creek, The town was first called Coddington Mills, then was change to Wisemans Mills. The name was changed to Cadmus on February 9, 1886. During that period, William was twice appointed postmaster, first on December 10, 1860, in the village of McDaniel, A twon later discontinued.. On November12, 1873, he was appointed Postmaster of Cadmus, This town was discontinued on May 31, 1900. Willam who was aslo called Bill, was one of the prominent blacksmiths of the area. He was known for his building of wagons. William T Hayes served with the Union Army n the War between the STates, enlisting August 25, 1864 He was Corporal in Company K, in the 173rd Regiment, Ohio Infantry. He was a blacksmith and was shoeing mules when he was injured. Thisinjury caused him to be partially paralyzed on the right side, arm and leg. He was discharged from the ARmy at Nashville, Tennessee, On June 26, 1865 Family story is that William faught in a number of battles in the Civil War. Including the battle of Murfreesboro. It is though he took part in Shermans march to the sea, as well as engagements at Nashville and Franklin. A member of the family says he escaped wounds but he was wounded, probably in the battle of Nashville as he was discharged from Nashville. William and Olivia had 11 children, they moved from the Ohio and Pennslyvania area, it is presume in a covered wagon os the trip took 9 weeks. James Partington, the son of Wiliam and Elizabeth Partington Hayes, was born July 25, 1851, in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania. He was married to Josephine Carter on July 27, 1878 in Lawrence County KY. Several children were born in Kentucky, they then moved to Kansas to settle in the Nickerson, Reno County, area where the rest of the children were born. James and Josephine had 8 children, two of the younger were twins, Arnoldus and Arnoldea, born March 15,1889. Jamsess and Josephine were divorced, but it is not known just when, but it ws before 1906. James worked on the railroad, at one time being employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Pueblo Colorado. While woring htere, he was hit on the head while working on an engine. It was fron this blow that he developed Cancer from which he died. he died on December 3,1925, and is buried at WIldmead Cemetery, Nickerson.
