a. Continued:   Daniel Bailey graduated from Woodward College before 18 years of age. He was engaged by Dr Joseph Ray, because of his high standing, to review "Rays's Arithmetic" and "Ray's Algebra", used as textbooks throughout the U.S. later, before they were printed. He served as an engineer in the construction of Deer Creek Tunnel in Cincinnati. He was Division Superintendent of the Little Miami Railroad. He joined his father-in-law, Eugene R Grasselli, as Secretary in 1864 after his marriage, in what was to become the Grasselli Chemical Co. He moved, with his family, from Westwood Cincinnati to Cleveland, in 1885. He became Vice President and Director of reorganized Grasselli Chemical Co, of Chamber of Commerce, and Woodland Av. Savings & Trust Co and Director of Broadway Savings & Trust Co and of Cleveland Worsted Mills Co.. He retired in 1911, 4 years before his death, because of paralysis. He, "A gentleman and businessman of the old school", passed away at 81 years of age.
