Notes
a. Note:   Sometime in her mid-20s Alice found work helping the family of Cap and Mary Sivits. It is not known how Alice met the Sivits, but Cap and Mary were living in a sod house on their homestead northeast of North Platte, Nebraska. The couple had three children and Mary needed help caring for them. Mary died shortly after her fourth child was born and Alice stayed on to help Cap take care of his motherless children. Alice and Cap were married in June of 1892. Alice raised Cap's four children and five of her own. (Alice actually had seven children, but two died young.) In the list of children under Alice and Cap I have included the children born to both Alice and Mary.

Much of the information on the descendants of Alice came from her daughter Carrie (Sivits) Turpen and Carrie's daughter Evelyn Turpen. Evelyn is interested in the genealogy of her family and had compiled an impressive record of family members. I also received information from Darlene (Sivits) Enns who collected information on Lester Sivits' descendants and Jessie (Brown) Sivits who gave me information on the descendants of George Sivits. Diann (Cochran) Dean and Chawn (Siegel) Smith provided information on the descendants of Mary (Sivits) Cochran. Joyce Nettie ( Wright) Thomas provided much of the information on the descendants of William Lincoln Sivits.
