Note: OBITUARY MRS. RAYMOND BIRCH Laura Olive Hillman, daughter of Edwin and Emily Hillman, was born November 4, 1879, in Gage County, Nebraska, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Blanche Frederick, at North Loup, Thursday. May 3, 1951, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 29 days. On January 23, 1902, she was united in marriage to Raymond Birch at Beatrice, Nebraska. They set up housekeeping and farming in Gage County until 1909, after which they moved to Loup County and took up a Kinkaid homestead where they lived until 1945, when they moved to Garfield County, east of Burwell. To this union were born 5 girls and 3 boys, of which 3 died in infancy. Those surviving are: Lester, of Lebanon, Missouri, Mrs. Blanch Frederick of North Loup, Mrs Violet Jaster of David City, Nebr., Mrs Marjorie Klink of St. Maries, Idaho, and Raymond Jr. of Ord. She became a member of the Latter Day Saints Church (Reorganized Church of Later Day Saints - RLDS) at Adams, Nebraska, in the year 1900. Left to mourn her passing are: her husband, five children, 21 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 brothers, and a host of friends and relatives. During the past year she had been in failing health, but remained cheerful at all times until the last. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and was loved by all her friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held Monday, at 2:00 P.M. at the Christian Church with Elder Shrunk of Lincoln officiating. The music was furnished by: Mrs. Bus Olcott, Miss Eleanor Reincke and Mrs. Bernard Haines at the piano. A solo was sung by Mrs. Shrunk. The pallbearers were six grandsons: Russell and Clarence Birch, Robert Frederick, Harold Coash, Chester McKimmey, and Frank Porter. Burial was in the Burwell Cemetery. Relatives attending from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. Lester Birch and family of Labanon, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Jaster and family of David City, Nebr.; Mrs. Lloyd Klink of St. Maries, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Collin and Mrs. Ada Price of Waxahachie, Texas; Mrs Will Widney of Fay, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Porter of Albin, Wyoming. I also got some information Bethyl Susan "Sue" (Johnson) Birch. Sue is married to Bennie Leo Birch, a grandson of Raymond and Laura.
