J oe l was not a regular soldier, but when Virginia was invaded by the B rit ish under Gen. Cornwallis, he took his gun and went out with the p atri ot troops, never to return. His brother William was an enlisted s oldie r in the Revolution and is said to have been killed at the sieg e of Yo rktown.
