Notes
a. Note:   Sept 23, 1897, Thursday, Cassville Republican, Barry Co., MO Obituary: Died at her home, Sept 20, Martha wife of S. R. Higgs, of heart failure, age 38 years. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss. She was thought to be in her usual health and was attending a meeting held near her home. She attended three services on Sunday and returned home late at night. She had just witnessed the conversion of one of her children and seemed to be in great peace. She spoke a few motherly words to the family and soon fell asleep. Awaking about the usual hour Monday morning, she called the girls and spoke to her husband about the occupation of that day and seemed to be in a very happy state of mind, when suddenly her voice hushed and she began gasping her breath. Her husband being alarmed raised her head but she was gone to speak no more. She made a profession of religion about ten years ago and united with the Baptists at New Hope where she lived as a worthy member. She was laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery after services by Rev.'s Williams and Stodgill. Rev. J. W. Ennes
