Note: Matthew Tucker II was born c 1736 in that part of Prince George County VA that became part of Amelia County that became part of Dinwiddie County. His supposed parents were Matthew & Phoebe (Clay) Tucker, but either he or his father was actually a Crowder based upon recent Y-DNA test comparisons that show a perfect match with several in the Crowder Haplogroup R1b. https://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/crowder/results Matthew Tucker II married Rachel, perhaps Pascal (no known proof of surname) after 1760 - 10 children. She died after Oct 1784, but before 1788 for in March of that year Matthew married Elizabeth Reese with whom he had one child. During this period Matthew Tucker moved from the [Francis] Tucker land on [Ma]Whipponack Creek in Dinwiddie County to what became neighboring Nottoway County (1788). At one time Matthew Tucker II owned more than 600 acres in Nottoway, much of which was bequeathed to the youngest son, Herbert/Harbert Tucker in Matthew's 1810 will. However that son died in 1816, and despite a codicil giving the property to Herbert/Harbert's heirs, a contentious 19 year lawsuit over the division followed Matthew Tucker II's death (before June 1817 when his will was probated in Nottoway County VA.) Matthew Tucker II's original burial location was probably on the main plantation site which sat directly in what became Camp Pickett in 1941. Most graves in that area of Nottoway county, including all members of the extended Tucker family who died in the county, were disinterred and moved to Butterwood Cemetery where most remain unmarked.
