  OBITUARY
  Fine Citizen of County
  James Elmer Tucker, 79, lifelong resident of the Doss community west of Butterfield, passed away at the Cassville Community Hospital at 8:30 Saturday morning, April 7, after a sickness of sometime. He had been in the hospital for seven days. Mr. Tucker was a son of the late Thomas Benjamin and Mary Frances (Francis Elizabeth) Tucker and was born January 14, 1877, to attain the age of 79 years, two months, 24 days, and spent his entire life on the farm where he was born. He was one of the county's most highly esteemed citizens, to hold the respect and confidence of all who knew of the great life he lived. Mr. Tucker was married to Miss Lena Davidson of Exeter on June 19, 1898, who survives. To the union were born four daughters, Mrs. Orme Reams, Mrs. Naomi Davidson, Mrs. Mary Higgs, and Mrs. Elsie Woodward, of Exeter. Four sons, Burl and James A Tucker, Cassville, Tom Tucker, Pasadena, Tx., and Johnny Tucker, Exeter, survive and two sons preceded him in death. Other survivors are 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Three grandsons are serving in the armed forces. He was converted at the age of 19 years at the Mt. Pleasant Church and lived a devoted and consistent life through the year which was an example for those he held so near and dear. Funeral servies were held at the Mt. Pleasant Church Tuesday afternoon, April 10, with Revs. Charles VanZandt and C. E. Henderson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Davis Williamson Chapel in the Valley. Heartfelt sympathy is extended the bereaved by all who knew this fine man. Pall bearers were Ray Miller, Rufus Miller, Harry Moore, James M Lester, Walter Goostree and Raymond Montgomery. Honorary pall bearers were Ralph Cole, Gentry German, Oxford Cope, George Wireman, Bryan Higgs, George Prevo, Levi Sexton and Charley Ryan. Music was furnished by Beth Linebarger, Mona Jean Ray, C. Linebarger and John Linebarger who sang "Where We Will Never Grow Old," "Heaven" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye," accompanied by Gretchen Cameron at the piano.
