Death Takes Well Known Ovid Farmer - William H. Baker had been in poor health for many months - Had operation last week but condition was critical and he succumbed Tuesday W. H. Baker, a well known and highly respected farmer residing near Shepardsville died at Ovid Hospital Tuesday morning. Mr. Baker had been in poor health for some time and an operation was decided upon as a final effort to prolong his life. His condition was such, however, that the physicians gave but little hope of his recovery. Brief services will be held at his late home at one o'clock Friday afternoon, followed by regular service in the M. E. Church at Shepardsville at 2 o'clock, Rev. J. H. Bancroft officiating. Burial in South Ovid Cemetery. William H. Baker, second son of Christian and Elizabeth Baker, was born Feb. 7, 1865 in Ovid Township, Clinton County, and departed this life March 5, 1912, aged 57 years and 27 days. On Dec. 31, 1878, he was united in marriage with Miss Edith Doe. This union was blessed with four sons and two daughters, four of who survive, Ernest C., J. Bart, Cleo and Neva. One son, Marshall, died in infancy and Ruth at the age of five years. Mr. Baker's life has been spent in this vicinity and is worthy of emulation. His vocation was farming of which he made a success. He was a devoted husband and father, and a kind and helpful neighbor, while his generous disposition was recognized by all. Though suffering intensely during the past few years, he made a brave fight with the help of faithful physicians, nurse and relatives who feel that it is indeed hard to give him up. Besides the surviving wife and children he is survived by six brothers and four sisters who with many other relatives and friends mourn their loss.
