Notes
a. Note:   Elwood never had any children. He was very easy going and never got riled. In later years he camped in a trailer, had a boat, and traveled a good bit. His first two trailers he built him self. He was a wood worker of great expertise. He invented several tools that went to market. Being of humble means and education, he never protected his work and his employer made the money through patents. Elwood served in the Army in Southeast Asia building the Burma Road. He landed in India and left from India when he came home. He talked about how dirty India was, and how the ship cut a path through the filth in the harbor coming and going. He had a back injury while over there. A stack of 55 gallon drums were stacked on their sides, and they came loose and rolled over him. Elwood always had a hurting back. Elwood was in the Army in the late 20's and early 30's. He was an engineer. I can remember him telling the story that he thought he was going to get to drive a train, when they told him he was going in the engineers. He was sent to the Panama Canal and worked there on heavy equipment. When he went back in the Army in the 40's, he was given another serial number. He could tell some funny stories about the confusion this caused. His medical and pay records were forever being messed up.
