Vernon Newspaper, March 7, 1940: Charles W. Ord, a former resident of Mt. Vernon and a brother of Mort Ord of this city, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Christopher at 5 p.m. yesterday. Mr. Ord was employed at the Old Mt. Vernon coal mine years ago as an examiner and check weighman. He left this city 39 years ago. He was formerly Chief of Police at Christopher. He is survived by his widow, Nannie Wells Ord; three sons, Tom, Gus and Bill, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Tolliver of Christopher and Mrs. Helen Booten of Peoria; a brother, Mort Ord of Mt.
