  1. German names often consist of two or more unrelated parts. Reh (the word) is German for "deer" and the name Reh means "deerhunter". Kugler is probably derived from Kuger, "leather cowls or hood maker," or "bullet maker". -er is a suffix meaning "one who...", so Kugler is Kugl - er "one who makes leather cowls or hoods," or "one who makes bullets". - quoted from a 1986 document provided to me by my Aunt Florence Motz.
