  My grandmother's name was Florence Agens Emmaline (Zuch) Rehkugler. Stories go that she was born 'on the boat' coming to American. Another: she was about ll yrs. old and worked as a servant girl to earn her way and was adopted by a farmer family in the Marietta, Pa. area. I'm still trying to confirm this one but most of the sources are now dead! Also, even though her nationality was supposedly German, I was told by a cousin that she was from Holland. She, too, spoke 'high' German. {Florence Rekugler Motz, 5/8/1999}
  A third story has her raised by the Kutz family of Kutztown, Pennsylvania (according to Ethel Rehkugler Hocker)
