Enlisted in the AIF (Australian Imperial Forces), on 11 September 1915. He saw service in the Middle East with # 2 Squadron, First Australian Remount Unit. In England at the Headquarters of the AIF (Australian Imperial Forces) and in France with the 3 rd Australian Field Artillery Brigade. He was discharged on the 24 April 1919.
His final years were spent conducting a suburban dairy in Woornail Street, Murrumbeena.
