Adopted by William Ross as her father "Disappeared" after her mothers death. William Ross was a single man and it was unusual for a person of his status to adopt a child. There isn't much information on the adoption as it happen by "mutual consent" and before the South Australian government brought in a documented system.
William Ross and Amelia moved to Sunbury, Victoria, and it was her that Amelia met and married Jacob.
When Amelia was about to marry Jacob she obtained the official consent of William Ross to revert to the surname of Miller. The marriage certificate included a footnote to the effect that her "real father" had been advertised for five years previously with no response.
Amelia is buried with her daughter Violet Camellia in a family grave (Townsing?) in the Boonandara (Kew) Cemetery.
