Note: sed) was raised in a large family. Her father died and her mother remarried a man with many children. His name was McKee. After Eva's husband was killed, Eva moved to Oblong to care for her Grandmother, Eliza Ann Dennis. Eliza lived on a farm near Oblong. Eva had two children, Don and Dorothy, who went to school in Oblong. When Eliza died around Christmas, 1934, Eva went to live with her mother's sister, Lily and her husband Carles Dees. Eva earned her living doing housework as the Dees' had a very large home. Another relative (Beulah Dennis) relates that her husband's sister died and left him with 2 small children. Beulah and her husband lived close to them and helped care for these children until Beulah was expecting her own child; Eva took over the care of these children. Eva's cousin Charles Dees helped her build a small home in north Oblong where she lived until her health failed; she lived between her daughter Dorothy's and son Don's homes the remainder of her life.
