Fredda Margaret Hogue was born on Nov. 11, 1911 On Beason Run in Ritchie Co. West Virginia. At a early age moved with her Parents to a farm on Long Run next to Barkertown, on the Lynn Camp road. I know little of her childhood. She attended Beason school and graduated from Pennsboro high school.
I believe Fredda met my Father Edward Stauffer in Canton. They were married on November 12, 1935. They moved to Cleveland shortly after they married, and lived near E 116th street , close to Edwards parents. A short time later moving to 4511 Liberty Rd. South Euclid Ohio, They had 2 children, James born in 1936 and William born 1938.
Eventually problems developed with the marriage and Edward and Fredda were divorced on Sept. 5 , 1944. Fredda sold the house in South Euclid and moved back to Cleveland. She purchased a two family house at 1711 Wayside Rd. She didn't drive the house was close to public transportation. Edwards Mother and Father moved in with her, they would watch the children when she went to work. Edwards sister was about 15 years old and lived there also. Fredda worked at Thompson Products in Cleveland for about 18 years,
Fredda liked to sew and made lots of her own clothes, And along with her two sons did all the work around the house. She was a very good cook and entertained her family often.
About 1950 Fredda married William Martin, this was a very bad marriage and only lasted a few months. about 1960 she married Martin Assid. Martin also worked for Thompson Products as a security guard. About 1968 Martin had a saver stroke that left him paralyzed on the right side of his body and lost his ability to speak. Fredda took care of Martin until the mid 1980s, but finally had to put him in a V.A. home. Fredda herself moved into Parma nursing home in 1988, in Parma Ohio. Fredda died on Sept 8, 1990 , She is buried at the Wilson cemetery on Beason , close to her parents , and not far from where she was born.
