Notes
a. Note:   !NOTES #971 !Hand-written note says Noah-- May 1804 July 1851
!Pg 237: NOAH & ANN BUTTRAM left McMinn Co, TN, & went to Scott Co, ARK in 1851, probably in the spring. They both died soon after arriving in Ark. It seems according to history that there was a fever epidemic sweeping the county at that time. Their 2 young sons, ELIHU & JACOB had already moved to there & were farming so NOAH & ANN had decided to join them. NANCY JANE & 2 younger sisters evidently came with them. After their parents died, it is not known for sure what happened, they probably stayed with their brothers ELIHU & JACOB, or may have went up into south Missouri where some of their older married sisters were living. Soon after NANCY JANE went back to Morgan Co, IL, to care for her grandfather JACOB HUFFACRE because she received pay- ment from his estate for caring for him from 10 June 1854 until his death 25 April 1855. It is believed at this time she went to Douglas Co, MO where 2 of her older sisters were living. She is listed in the 1860 census along with her nephew JACOB, son of ELIHU, living with her sister. In 1862 she married ROBERT EVANS at Vera Cruz & took her brother's son with her. Her sister LOURANA SHIPLEY had died in Webster Co, MO. She had another sister SOPRONIA living in Phelps Co, MO who was keeping JACOB's sister REBECCA. REBECCA married JACOB WELLS. ELIHU's wife had also died in Arkansas in 1855. They were Methodists.
