Note: Carl and his sisters were very close to my grmother, Louise Borchardt. I only ever knew him after he retired. He was the holder of all the family lore. Someday my family and I will go to the Lac Qui Parle Historical society and see the borchardt collection. Carl once told me that he almost married; but his mother didn't want it because the girl was catholic.
