Note: James McCormick went with his brother, John, along with Samuel McCormick a nd 9or 10 other men from Connorsville, IN to construct a cabin for John a nd family at present day Indianapolis. They arrived in Indianapolis 26 Fe b, 1820. James and Samuel and the others (excluding John) returned to Conn ersville. James and family returned to Indianapolis sometime in March,182 0. James McCormick and family lived in the Indianapolis area until someti me in the 1840s; when they moved to Hendricks County. According to the at tached biographies, James died in 1845, however, information that I have s tates that the tombstone of James gives 1858. Back of tombstone says, Sec ond White Settlers of Indianapolis Ind. JamesMcCormick bought a farm on t he present site of Crown Hill. James and Martha(Patsey) McCormick reared a family of nine children.The fo llowing is a discussion of potential children. The biography The McCormi ck Family, identifies three children: 1) Mrs. Kate Eagle, alive in 192 2, 2) Jediah and 3) John. These two sons spent their entire lives in Indi anapolis. Another biography identifies another son, James, Jr. The 1860 c ensus of Liberty Twp, Hendricks lists PatsayMcCormick (age 58) as he ad of a family which included: Eliza (b ca 1840); William (age ca 1843); a nd Lucinda (age ca 1850). The 1880 census shows Patsy McCormick (b ca 180 4) living with a son, James, and his family. The biography of John Lew is McCormick states that Martha McCormick died in Frankfort, IN in 1880. The data attached to Chapter A gives, among other items, a copy of the McC ormick Family reunion, held in 1901. This rooster includes a written in li sting of children of James McCormick - J.R. & A.D. McC; John L., I.N. & J. W.; Lucinda C. Eagle. New names picked up from this list are: A.D. and I. N.
