Note: Bert Brannan had taken ill with the mumps in his pre-teen years. Due to the high fevers associated with the disease, Bert was rendered sterile. Through adoption, he became a wonderful, loving parent who could love his children no less than if they had been borne of his own genes. Perhaps he loved them even more for the fact that geuinely wanted to be a father.
