a. Note:   70 census. He bought 7 acres on Meeting Creek near the mouth in February 1875. The land consisted of a Sawmill and Grist mill. The Dennis family also ran a mill on the Nolin , I believe it was one of Johns brothers. John probably wanted to go into the Milling business. This mill was located far enough away as not to co mpete with his family. John bought the farm in Mt. Hebron in 1897 from John Eanes, this is the same farm later owned by Sye and Etta Drane Dennis, his Grand-daugther. They bougtht the farm 17, Sept. 1914 from Johns heirs. John was noted for his skill with a rifle, being a expert shot.
