Note: The 1900 federal census for Fannin Co., Texas shows that she was divorced. It also shows that she was the mother of one child, who was still living. The 1910 federal census for Fannin Co., Texas shows that she was a widow, and the mother of one child, who was still living. Another sweet and gentle woman has been called from our community to her reward in heaven and our burden of sorrow is heavier to bear. Sunday morning at 9:45, the very hour Mrs. Henderson had for many years met her class in Sunday school to teach them the beautiful lessons given by the Savior, she yielded up her earthly life and went to join in the perfect praise of her Master in the world beyond. Mrs. Henderson had been ill only a few days. For days and nights she had watched and ministered around the couch of her only child, Mrs. W. E. McRae. Weakened and worn by the long vigils, she found herself attacked by the terrible influenza, which rapidly sapped away her life. She knew death was approaching and talked calmly and beautifully to her mother and to others who gathered about her as the death-dew formed upon her brow. She had lived, she said, for the event that was near, and to her death held out no terrors. A farewell message was said to mother, a farewell message was sent to the sick daughter and other loved ones, and then, sustained by an unfaltering trust in her Savior, the sufferer closed her eyes on earth to open them upon the resplendent glories of the Holy City. Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson was 51 years old. She was born in Kentucky, but had lived in Honey Grove for more than twenty-five years. Hers was a beautiful Christian life, a life that blessed the world, and a life so sweet and pure that its influence for good can never die. The sympathy of all our people for her mother, her daughter and her other loved ones is as deep-seated as the human heart itself. For them our prayers ascend and our hearts bleed. The funeral was conducted at the home Monday morning by Rev. E. L. Moore of the Presbyterian church, of which Mrs. Henderson had been a member since she was 10 years old. Then the body was given back to earth and over the remains a mound was raised in beautiful Oakwood.
