a. Note:   Lou Belle Edelen Young James Young married Lou Belle Edelen in 1889. She had come with her parents at the close of the Civil War from Kentucky. Her background was caught up in the history of Kentucky. Her grandfather, Gen. Robert B. McAfee, was Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, president of the board at West Point, and Ambassador to Bogota, Columbia, under President Polk. Gen. McAfee contributed much to the historical and educational development of Kentucky and after the family migrated to Missouri, Dr. John McAfee became co-founder of Park College at Parkville, Missouri. Eventually he sent his daughter to Wellesley. She was president of that college, later she became the first captain of the WAVES.
  James Hickman Young and Lou Belle Edelen Young were the parents of two children, Euel Bruce and Kathleen.
  Martin Bruce Young the son of Euel and Lucille Martin Young, lives with his wife Jan, and four children in Overland Park, Kansas. Both of his parents are deceased.
  The two daughters of Kathleen and her late husband, Walter J. Barnes, reside with their husbands and children in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, and Walla Walla, Washington. Their families consist of six children.

  MRS. LOUBELLE EDELEN YOUNG Lou Belle Edelen was born in Danville, Ky., January 1, 1863, and died at her home in Belton, Mo., April 21, 1924, aged 61 years, three months and 21 days. Funeral services were conducted at her late home April 22 by the Rev. George F. Bell, pastor of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, and interment was in Belton Cemetery. November 27, 1889, Miss Edelen was married to James H. Young and to this union two children were born -- Earl B. and Kathleen. These children, and Mr. Young survive. There are also four brothers. They are James M. Edelen, Amarillo, Texas; Henry B. Edelen, Pleasant Hill; William B. Edelen, Cleveland, Mo, and Thomas Brown Edelen, Bolings, California. Two of the brothers, H. B. and W. H. were with their sister when the end came. Mrs. Young united with the Presbyterian Church in Benton about 20 years ago. She lived a consistent Christian and was patient through her days of invalidism which had kept her helpless for five years.

  MRS. JAMES H. YOUNG PASSED AWAY MONDAY
  Lou-Bell Edelen, the second daughter of William Bruce Edelen and Evelyn McAfee Edelen, was born in Danville, Kentucky, January 1, 1863, and passed away on Monday, April 21, 1924, at the family residence in Belton, Missouri. She is survived by her husband, Mr. James H. Young, two children, Euel Bruce Young, and Kathleen Young, and four brothers, Henry B. Edelen, Pleasant Hill, Mo; William H. Edelen, Cleveland, Mo; James M. Edelen, Amarilla, Texas, and Thomas Brown Edelen, Oakland, California. Two of her brothers, H. B. and W. H., were with their sister when the end came.
  Mrs. Young had resided in Belton for the past fifty years, having moved from her native State while yet a child.
  At an early age she united with the Belton Presbyterian church.
  For the past ten years, she had been an invalid and was confined to her home the greater part of the time. Though suffering greatly at times, she was ever patient and cheerful.
  Mrs. Young was loved and very highly honored by the residents of this community, having spent the greater part of her life here as an honorable and devoted wife and mother.
  Her place in the home will be sorely missed by loved ones and friends, and the vacancy can never be filled.
  The funeral services were conducted at the residence on Tuesday afternoon April 22, 1924, and were in charge of Rev. Bell pastor of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and Rsv. Chaney of Kansas City.
  Interment was in the Belton Cemetery
