  Funeral March 4 For Browne Y. Edelen (Source: Pleasant Hill Historical Society, news article dated March 28, 1963) Funeral services for Browne Y. Edelen of Sedalia, Mo., who died March 4 in St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, were held at the Gillespie Funeral Home, Sedalia, March 6. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Dr. Garnet S. Odell, pastor of the Broadway Presbyterian Robert See... sang "Oh .... That Will Not Let Me Go" and "The Lord's Prayer" with Miss Lillian Fox at the organ. Mr. Edelen was born Feb. 6, 1891 at Pleasant Hill. He was the son of the late Henry B. and Anna I. Edelen. He was married April 17, 1948 at Lawrence, Kans., to Mrs. Marie Phelps who preceded him in death Jan. 28 of this year. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William (Margaret) Gulick Paola, Kans. and Mrs. Evelyn Cummings, Fair Oaks, Calif.; step-daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Northern, Kansas City. Mr. Edelen was a salesman of heavy road equipment from 1923 to 1953. For the past ten years he had his own company dealing in road and street equipment. He was a member of the Broadway Presbyterian church, the Masonic Lodge, Ararat Shrine, York Rite, Knights Templar and the order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Will Gulick, Paola, Kan.; Mrs. Evelyn Cummings, Fair Oaks, Calif.; and a step daughter, Bonnie Northern, Kansas City. His wife, Mrs. Marie Edelen, preceded him in death Jan. 28. The body is at the Gillespie Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
