a. Note:   The 1850 federal census for Hardin Co., Kentucky shows the following persons living in his dwelling: Mary B. Williams, age 31, born in Kentucky Mary D. Alford (or Alward), age 25, born in Kentucky It also shows his age as 37.
  The 1860 federal census for Hardin Co., Kentucky shows the value of his real estate owned as $4,400 and the value of his personal estate as $8,000. It also shows his age as 45.
  The 1870 federal census for Hardin Co., Kentucky shows the value of his real estate owned as $10,000 and the value of his personal estate as $1,000. It also shows his age as 56.
  The 1880 federal census for Hardin Co., Kentucky shows that his parents were born in Virginia. It also shows his age as 65.
  "The Reverend Samuel Williams, a Presbyterian minister, born in Lincoln County, was educated at Centre College, Danville. He came to Elizabethtown in 1845 and became pastor of the local Presbyterian Church. The following year, he resigned the pastorate, finding the salary 'inadequate' to a comforatable support. He then purchased a farm near town and resided there.
  "The Reverend Williams was associated with the Reverend R.L. Thurman in operating the Female Seminary. Following the resignation of Reve. Thurman, Williams continued the school alone for nine months, being regarded as an excellent teacher. Mr. Haycraft had a very high regard for Rev. Williams. In writing of him, he commented - 'Very few men have passed through twenty-five years of active duties and trying circumstances with a more blameless life and Christian-like deportment.' (written circa 1869). Their daughter Sudie, born July 12 1864, died May 11, 1868, adn was the wife of Reverend R.W. Browder. Their son Raymond Findley, was the father of John Findlay Williams, a long-time grocer in Elizabethtown."
