a. Note:   N211 Buss, Nondus 7/7/1939 - 1/1/2015 Nondus Marie (Gilbert) Buss died on January 1, 2015, after living with Alzheimer's disease for nearly eleven years. Nondus was a self-described life-long learner, especially enjoying family and local history. She earned her undergraduate and two graduate degrees from Eastern Michigan University while raising her family, teaching, and being involved in community and church activities. After 28 years as an educator for Manchester Community Schools, her retirement was highlighted by travel, involvement in the Manchester Historical Society and dedicated work restoring the sanctuary of Emanuel United Church of Christ. Nondus instilled the value of education and reading to her children and grandchildren. The oldest child of Harley and I. Marie (England) Gilbert, Nondus was born on July 7, 1939 in Manchester MI, where she lived the majority of her life. On July 5, 1958, she married Carl Buss with whom she shared almost 55 years; he preceded her in death on May 29, 2013. A sister, Wanda, and her parents are also deceased. Surviving are daughters Carol (Dennis) Durnwald and Elaine (Bill) Wilmarth; grandchildren: Libby and Lauren Durnwald, Eric and Holly Wilmarth; siblings: Guy Gilbert, Karen Vandersbosch, Donna (Joe) Nagel and Mary (John) Gilmore; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Nondus' cremains will be buried, as she wished, beside her sister in Oak Grove Cemetery, Manchester. Services will be private. Contributions in Nondus' memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Manchester Alumni Scholarship Fund, or Manchester United Church of Christ. Heartfelt thanks for outstanding care provided by Carla and Margaret while Nondus lived at home and the detailed care from the compassionate staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio over the past 13 months.
