The Passport has Aton going to Austria in 1915 and Ellis Island records show that he returned with his third wife 35 year old Anna Unknown
Oral History from Phyllis and Elise Slisz:
Aton was married twice the first one died in Austria he then marries his wife's unmarried sister as was the custom in those days ...The sister and Casper did not get along and so when Casper was 8 years old he was shipped off to the states with his dad Aton and stayed with someone in Pittsburgh.
Aton was a colorful Guy. He was a self taught Herbalist and bone healer. He traveled about doing this type of thing. He came from what was called in those days in Austria "Little Poland " the land of the dark haired and eyed peoples. Our research that he was born and baptised at St. Ann's in KoIaczyce, near Jaslo at that time Austrian Poland or Galicia...
We still do not know where Anton or Annie are buried.
The more we dig up the bigger the mystery becomes.
In Cedar Grove Cemetery in South Bend we have the graves Marya Stec listed as "First Wife of Anton Slisz" and of Balbina Laskowski as "Second Wife of Anton Slisz". Our research has determined that Marya and Balbina were twin sisters born March 10, 1857 at Kolaczyce.
Anton and Mary had a son that was born in Pittsburgh, PA who passed at 16 of Consumption, Then Balbina died of TB, followed by their daughter Frances. TB seemed to run rampant in this family.
