Note: Death notice: Frieda A. Slisz (Vital Statistics: 2005/02/17) MISHAWAKA -- Frieda A. (Torzewski) Slisz, 90, of Regency Place Nursing Home, died Tuesday in the nursing home. Survivors include two sons, Joseph L. Torzewski of Granger and Jon Torzewski of Mishawaka. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hickey Funeral Homes & Crematory Services, 17131 Cleveland Road, where friends may call two hours before services.
Frieda A. Slisz Aug. 17, 1914 - Feb. 15, 2005 South Bend Tribune 2/17/2005 Frieda A. (Torzewski) Slisz, 90, of Regency Place nursing home, formerly of Pin Oak Circle, Mishawaka, died Tuesday evening, Feb. 15, in Regency Place. Frieda worked for many years with Wilson Brothers Shirt Company, South Bend, and as a waitress in the South Bend area. She was born August 17, 1914, in Sulsdorf, Germany, to Carl Hans and Johanna Dora (Wilken) Theede, who preceded her in death along with four sisters, Dorothy Forshey, Hertha Forslund, Ann Granat and Emma Balicki; two brothers, Fritz and Carl Theede. On November 25, 1933, in South Bend, she married Joseph J. Torzewski, who died February 24, 1971. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Torzewski of Granger and Jon Torzewski of Mishawaka; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Denise Grant, pastor of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview cemetery. Friends may call 9 am to 11 am Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 E. Haney, South Bend, IN 46613.
