Note: as her uncle or great-uncle. Sally may have been married to a Hopkins. There are several Hopkins listed in the Philadelphia census records. As yet, I can find no actual relationship. This is where the connection to Johns Hopkins is found. Until further confirmation, there is a possibility that her first husband could have been a Samuel Hopkins who died on Wednesday, March 23, 1881. His father was William T. Hopkins. Samuel died in his 27th year. His viewing was held at his father's home at 2109 N. 13th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday, March 26, 1881. Internment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 61st and Kingsessing Avenue, Philadelphia. This according to the Philadelphia Public Ledger, Friday, March 25, 1881. Sally is listed on the 1910 Census with her husband, Thomas (age 47) Thomas W. (age 14), Rebecca F. Smith (age 16) and Fanny F. Hopkins (age 34) Sally was born in Maryland while the other members were born in Pennsylvania. See attached copy of the 1910 census record.
