Note: CAUSE_OF_DEATH: Jacob was in the Dutch underground during the second world war. He was one of 70 men shot by the germans toward the end of the war. He was arrested because he was caught with a radio transmitter. When a high ranking german official was killed by the underground, Jacob was shot along with the other men in retaliation. He left behind 4 little girls. My grandfather Willem was devastated by this loss, and did not get over it for many months, and in some ways never did get over it. He and Jacob were, in my grandfather's words, "Like twin brothers". My father Pieter Nicolaas also commented that Jacob was his favorite uncle. I wish I had known him.
